- Little Shrike-Thrush
The Little Shrike-Thrush is a small bird that would seem sweet upon first glance with its small body and beautiful melodies.
But beware; this little bird is one of only three poisonous bird species. Found mainly in Australia, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea, they generally have a gray or brown plumage.
Eating poisonous insects has made these birds a fatal treat to any predator. The poison in their wings and body is highly toxic, similar to the dart frog.
Remind your child that just because an animal is cute, doesn’t mean it is safe to touch.
