8 Animals That You Didn’t Know Were Dangerous For Your Kids To Touch

  1. Millipede

Flipping logs in the woods to find the life bustling underneath of it is a favorite past time for many boys.

Feasting on the abundance of rotted wood below is the millipede, with their many little legs or curled up into a spiral.

If you have ever picked one up, you probably noticed that they don’t smell good, and that is because of their toxin.

It’s not just the smell you need to beware of. The toxin also can cause rashes on human skin, or irritate the eyes. This irritation occurs in other insects who try to eat them as well, making a good deterrent to predators.

Monkeys have been known to rub the millipede toxin on their bodies to ward off fleas and other pestering insects.

If your child picks one up, be sure to wash their hands thoroughly before they get it in their eyes or mouth.
