A Warrior For The Unborn Receives A Fitting Miracle

The Lord truly does work in mysterious ways.

He leads us from darkness into better situations and answers our prayers in the most unexpected ways – with perfect timing.

And he just performed another miracle that will warm your heart.

Sam Casey is a pro-life lawyer and staunch advocate for protecting the unborn.

He is General Counsel and Managing Director for the Law of Life Project, which works in the legal system to “defend the right to life and dignity of the human being from biological conception to natural death in all matters worldwide,” according to their site.

He has defended the unborn in various cases throughout his career in both state and federal courts, including legislative work before the U.S. Congress and Supreme Court.

If that’s not impressive enough, he is also heavily involved in charity work, such as helping the homeless.

This year on January 18th marked the 46th annual March for Life in Washington, D.C., where hundreds of thousands raised their voices to defend the unborn.

Mommy Underground has exclusive coverage of the event and celebrates all those who participated.

Until this year’s event, Sam Casey hadn’t missed the annual March for Life in “many, many years,” according to his wife, Jill.

He had even been scheduled as the keynote speaker of a local March for Life event in Charlotte this year.

But on December 22nd of last year, Sam was hit by a car while riding his bicycle.

He was unconscious and airlifted to an Intensive Care Unit in Charlotte, North Carolina.  He was in critical condition – in a coma and needing a ventilator and feeding tube to survive.

The prognosis looked grim, and the extent of trauma to his brain – and its long-term impact – was unknown.

But then, God stepped in to bring this fighter for the most innocent back from the brink – in a very symbolic way.

Sam’s love for all life and his annual participation in the March for Life made this year’s march a fitting day for Sam to speak his first words in a month.

Jill Casey shared the amazing news with friends and family, including on a social media page called Caring Bridge she had been using to update them.

When she entered Sam’s hospital room on January 18th – March for Life day – she heard her husband talking to his occupational therapist.

OT: “Sam, can you say Hi?”

Sam looking at me trying to focus in a very slow drawl: “Ye..ah”

OT: “Sam, how are you feeling?”

Sam: “I’m see…ing how   how th..is th..ing feeeels.”

“I broke out in tears of Joy!  WE HEARD IT!!!” Jill shared on the page, according to LifeSite News.

Jill knew that everyone had been praying for Sam.

She had been receiving emails from their home church in Charlotte saying that novenas were being held to grant healing to Sam.

She was also notified that at a March for Life mass at St. Matthew’s Cathedral in Washington, D.C. the week before, every bishop and congregant present had prayed for Sam.

She only has one explanation – God had heard and answered everyone’s desperate pleas to heal this man whose life mission is to save the unborn.

“Only JESUS can raise/heal a damaged brain!  I proclaim today January 18, 2019 March for Life and Answered Prayer in JESUS’ Name!” Jill posted that day, according to LifeSite.

Sam has been slowing making progress, and Jill and family are keeping the updates coming on Caring Bridge.

Just this week, Sam was transferred to a rehab unit next to the hospital.  He is working on speech and motor skills and was able to eat his first solid food since the accident.

He still requires a feeding tube and medical intervention, and no one knows what the permanent effects of the trauma will be.

But Sam is alive and in good spirits – and his first words on March for Life day, 2019 could not have been more timely.
