Easter Sunday is a time to celebrate the victory and resurrection of our living King.
But as society seeks to “mainstream” Easter – stores are filled with pastel colored Easter eggs and chocolate bunnies, with no mention on the true meaning of Easter.
So this Easter, take the time to talk with your children about who Jesus is – the miracles He performed and the significance of His death and burial.

- Focus on Jesus: If you are a Christian mom, chances are your children probably already know about Jesus!
However, you can continue to teach your children the good news about how Jesus is the Savior of the world, and how He bore the penalty of sin so those who trust in Him should not perish but have eternal life!
Depending on the age of your child, you can adapt your conversation to fit their understanding and life stage.
For older children you can teach them about the betrayal of Judas and the wrath Jesus bore on the cross. You can use it as a chance to teach them that Jesus was following the will of His father, and the importance and significance of His obedience.
Younger children can learn even more about how God so loved the world that He sent His one and only begotten Son, so those that believe in Him will not perish but shall have eternal life!
- Outreach To Neighbors: If you’re feeling really brave, you can take your child and go door to door. No, not to help elect the next politician, but to invite your neighbors to church!
Having your child watch you live out your faith will set an example for them in ways you can’t even begin to imagine.
Before you go, you can teach your child not everyone has accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior, and in fact many people don’t even know who He is! Teach your child that Jesus tells us we must go out into the world and spread His light and speak of His name.
You can even make it fun and bring cookies to your neighbor along with an invitation inviting them to come to church with your family on Easter.
Sure, your neighbors might not be receptive, but you’ll never know! God doesn’t call us to get results and change hearts – He just commands us to speak His name and leave the results up to Him.
- Make it Fun: Easter is one of the most joyful days of the year for on this day Jesus conquered the grave!
If your kids love crafts, you can certainly implement Easter themed activities and keep them Christ-centered at the same time.
Consider making beautiful stained-glass crosses by gluing tissue paper to a thin plastic base and framing it with bright colored foam. Or you can cut out cardboard crosses and decorate them with all kinds of bright colored beads and gems.
Use this craft time to share with your children that the cross is a symbol of Jesus’s ultimate love for the world.
For older children you can even get into a more detailed account of how He bore our sin and shame for the world to see and suffered in our place.
The world will tell your child Easter is all about Easter eggs and chocolate candy.
Sure, there’s nothing wrong with eating chocolate on Easter and dressing your little girl in a pretty Easter dress.
But be sure to keep the main focus of Easter on Jesus. Use this day as a chance to teach your child more about Jesus and His love for the world.
