Our Children Are In Danger From Campus Brainwashing

Parents put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into raising their children, making sure they go into the next phase of life with a good head on their shoulders.

For many young people, the first time they leave home is for their college education.

Campuses around the United States are sadly becoming increasingly liberal, leaving impressionable young adults battling for their values and opinions.

As the Daily Wire reports, there have been several attacks on conservatives in recent months by those who subscribe to leftist ideology:

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and his wife, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, were accosted and harassed by a deranged left-wing mob as they were leaving a dinner at Georgetown University. Sen. McConnell was harassed by protesters at Reagan National Airport, as well as at several venues in Kentucky. Sen. Ted Cruz and his wife were harassed at a Washington, D.C., restaurant. Afterward, a group called Smash Racism DC wrote: “No — you can’t eat in peace — your politics are an attack on all of us. Your (sic) votes are a death wish. Your votes are hate crimes.” Other members of Congress — such as Andy Harris, Susan Collins and Rand Paul — have been physically attacked or harassed by leftists. Most recent is the case of Fox News political commentator Tucker Carlson. A leftist group showed up at his house at night, damaging his front door and chanting, “Tucker Carlson, we will fight! We know where you sleep at night!” “Racist scumbag, leave town!””

It is very unfortunate that these political figures were harassed to the highest degree, even having their lives threatened, just because their opinions didn’t match the loud and violent liberal elitists.

Justification is not found in wanting to silence a voice echoing a truth you don’t succumb to.

This is the line of thinking across many college campuses, that conservative opinion is hate speech.

When in reality, the only hateful words are those by the liberals who are trying to manipulate freedom of speech, making it only one-sided.

The worst part is that the colleges and universities are not doing anything to stop the mob mentality, but are actually reinforcing the troops.

The argument is fallible from the start, as hate speech is protected by the First Amendment right in the Constitution, and requires no repercussion.

According to the American Library Association:

Under current First Amendment jurisprudence, hate speech can only be criminalized when it directly incites imminent criminal activity or consists of specific threats of violence targeted against a person or group.”

Speech can legally be offensive to someone, hurt their feelings, or be objectionable in many ways.

What it cannot be is threatening, or harassment to a particular person, as in the case of Tucker Carlson. That is when legal repercussions are necessary.

A poll by Brookings Institution revealed how most college students are misinformed on what free speech is, and are disturbingly misguided on when to take physical action.

Almost half of college students “believe that hate speech is not protected by the First Amendment”, according to the Daily Wire.

A whopping 51% believe it is their right to stop a speaker from presenting if they don’t agree with what they have to say. And, 19% of students think that violence can be used to stop a speaker from sharing, while half of college attendees feel that free speech should be waived completely if it offends someone.

Those are extremely alarming statistics, showing how our campuses across the nation are rallying together to instill a “big brother knows best” mentality.

Students are taking these concepts to heart inciting violence, rioting, and threatening speakers on campus when they contain right-wing speech.

The University of California, Berkeley, is unsurprisingly at the center of college revolt with the events such as the riot to shut down Ben Shapiro from speaking, as Mommy Underground has previously reported.

As if campuses haven’t done enough, The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education has planted “bias response teams”, according to the Daily Wire, that report back to campus administration and law enforcement when they deem speech is offensive toward a group of people.

I doubt, however, that this organization picks up the phone when students are rallying together to talk about their disdain for conservative principles.

Benjamin Franklin wrote, “Whoever would overthrow the Liberty of a Nation, must begin by subduing the Freeness of Speech.”

This is exactly what the left is doing to conservatives, creating an environment where free speech is defined as liberal propaganda.

In a nation where over half of college and university professors are proclaimed liberals, higher education is compromised.

We must prepare our children for the indoctrination they will face, filtering out the skewed political perceptions for moral principles.
