Study Reports Some Surprising Findings About Our Nation’s Mothers

How stay-at-home and working moms spend their time:

The study showed that stay-at-home moms do the majority of the childcare and housework – a given due to their close proximity to home and children all day.

But one finding may be up for debate – stay-at-home moms are getting 10 percent more sleep and time to themselves, so the polls say.

Just ask any stay-at-home mom and she will likely dispute this finding, as these superheroes rarely find the time to take care of themselves or enjoy time away.

(If you are a SAHM, when was the last time you got to take a bubble bath without kids banging on the door or read a book without something getting broken?!)

The research is interesting to say the least and shows that there are more options available for being able to stay home while our kids are young than ever before.

The inability for many moms to do so, however, can be directly tied to the skyrocketing costs of childcare, and just about everything else in the nation.

The stresses placed on home and family, struggles to balance multiple responsibilities, and increasing attacks on traditional values all contribute to the high divorce rate, leaving in its wake broken families and struggling single parents.

Until the tide turns and more moms have the option to stay-at-home, one thing is certain:  All mothers are doing the best they can to put their children first and take care of all there is to do in this busy and hectic world.
