The Government Wants To “Approve” Of Our Parenting – Will We Pass The Test?

Progressive socialists are all about big government.

They want to control our healthcare and monitor everything we do, taking away more and more of our rights as they go along.

And now a frightening new bill is being introduced in the U.S. – one that will allow the government to “approve” of our parenting.

While it may sound like something out of Nazi Germany or a country run by dictators, this bill has been proposed in modern-day America.

Oregon Governor Kate Brown has thrown her support behind Senate Bill 526.  It would allow the Oregon Health Authority to come into private homes to provide “universal” home visits following the birth of a child.

There are few details available – likely by design – but would provide that a licensed health care official would visit all new parents at 3 days, 2 weeks, and 2 months after a baby is born.

What is even more shocking is that the legislation has been given “emergency status,” meaning that it must be voted on before the end of the year.

This is particularly chilling, as this designation is given only for “the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety.”

While legislators are denying that these invasive home visits would be mandatory, it is not hard to envision parents being harassed and put on the radar of Child Protective Services should they refuse.

The program is not about providing resources and assistance to low-income families.  Every single new parent would be assessed every time they have a child.

Dr. Alanna Braun of Oregon Health & Science University says the program would “allow nurses to monitor moms for signs of postpartum depression and check to make sure there’s a safe place for the baby to sleep and to be bathed and more,” according to LifeSite News.

Can you imagine a state official coming into your home and judging whether your baby’s room and bed are appropriate?  Or whether you’re correctly feeding or bathing them?

What would they say to parents who co-sleep with their little ones?  We can only imagine their disapproval.  Will they watch us nurse our little ones to make sure we’re doing it “right?”

They would also weigh the baby at each visit, conduct any lab tests deemed necessary, and discuss vaccinations.

And while the adoption process already requires interviews and home visits, this same schedule of visits would be used to check up on the family after the adoption becomes final.

It is hard to believe this could happen in a supposedly free and developed nation, but with the progressive culture of Oregon and its legislators, this bill has a good chance of being passed into law.

And if so, how long until this legislation is mandated on a national level?

Progressives already want to make our healthcare decisions for us.  Now they want to monitor what kind of parent we are in the privacy of our own homes.

“What’s the big emergency?  Apparently, the state of Oregon is concerned that some parents are raising their children without the watchful eye of Big Brother monitoring their every move – a big no-no in the view of the progressive left.  It’s frightening to think about what would happen to parents who refuse such visits,” writes Paula Bolyard for PJ Media.

She notes that monitoring the homes of law-abiding citizens is a violation of the Fourth Amendment and Due Process Clause of the U.S. Constitution.

Of course, progressives work every day to destroy the rights guaranteed us by the Constitution.

Bolyard also warns that this is yet another step toward early government control over our children.

They are indoctrinated with progressive propaganda beginning in public kindergarten.  This is simply a way to begin the process at birth.

This frightening bill would allow government officials to invade our homes at the time we want and need the most privacy.  The first days of a newborn’s life are a time for the family to bond and adjust.

It is the worst kind of government control a parent can imagine — having your home and parenting skills brought under scrutiny by a stranger when you are exhausted.

We can imagine tired, overwhelmed parents just a few days postpartum, furiously trying to make their homes and children look perfect so they aren’t “flagged” by a government agency.

Most of us spend the first few days or weeks postpartum in a haze — in our sweat pants, with dirty dishes and laundry piling up.  We don’t have time to clean the house or even shower.

It is survival mode – and this is when a stranger will pay a visit to judge us and our environment.

And if this bill passes, we can no doubt look ahead in horror as parents lose their children to the state’s care because they “failed” their home visit.

This is a shameful – and scary– idea and a complete violation of the rights of American citizens.

We shudder to think of this bill passing into law in Oregon – or any other state.
