The Left’s “National Walkout Day” Backfired In A Major Way

In the left’s attempt to demonize law-abiding citizens for owning guns, they orchestrated a massive publicity stunt and used teenagers as the pawn.

Staging a 17 minute “National Walkout Day”, teenagers from all over the country were pressured (and sometimes forced) to walk out of class, in an attempt to protest gun violence.

But what the media doesn’t tell you is many teenagers didn’t even know what they were protesting.

In fact, some were told they were simply standing with the victims, not knowing the media was exploiting them to push their anti-gun agenda.

But everyone didn’t fall in line as the left had hoped, and parents and students are fighting back.

And as it turns out, the same organizational minds behind the walkout are the same masterminds behind the Women’s March.

Seeing this as a political stunt, parents are livid and rightfully so.

Some have even decided to take legal action.

Breitbart reported:

“In an interview with Breitbart News, the parents’ attorney, Deborah Stevenson – with expertise in constitutional and education law – spoke about the parents’ issues with their school district’s decision to allow students to participate in the walkout.

On March 12, Stevenson sent a letter to the New Milford Board of Education, Superintendent Joshua D. Smith, and New Milford High School principal Greg P. Shugrue – which she made available to Breitbart News. Stevenson wrote:

My clients have asked me to notify you that this event violates state law, on the basis that state and local public funds are being used improperly to advocate for a political issue and to influence how voters will vote. Because it violates state law, we demand that the New Milford Public School District’s Superintendent and Board of Education immediately cancel the event, and rescind any association or prior involvement in it.

In addition to citing the Women’s March Network or Women’s March Youth Empower as an organizer of the student walkouts, Stevenson added that “the event is promoted by the Action Network, which touts itself as ‘an open platform that empowers individuals and groups to organize for progressive causes.’”

In addition, many teens were caught in the crosshairs between leftist teachers and their own political beliefs.

Teachers actually put students in the position of insinuating they didn’t care if people died, if they wouldn’t leave school and protest.

Thankfully, some teens were smart enough to see through the massive protest, and openly voiced their objection.

Some actually emailed conservatives for help.

The Daily Wire reported:

“From a 16-year-old high school girl: “I was planning on not participating in the walkout. I do not see the point in leaving class to simply walk outside, stand and talk with peers for 17 minutes, and return to class. The act of walking out of class to ‘protest school violence’ does not seem to have a target audience, even though they may have a news crew, it is doubtful that the students in Florida will see the actions of our school’s walkout as a stand with solidarity. I also support the 2nd Amendment and see this walkout as another opportunity for students and their parents to attack that amendment and my support of gun control…I do see that my refusal to participate may be seen as unsympathetic or cruel. My brother, who is a freshman, is being pressured in class to participate

From a 17-year-old high school student: “tomorrow my school is having a walkout at 10:00 ‘for the 17 students who were killed in the Parkland, Fl shooting.’ The walkout, however, here at my school, is not really about that. It is being promoted by an anti-gun/leftist political agenda that I just don’t and can’t support, especially using the 17 kids that were MY AGE as a platform. I was wondering what you would say to people who want to call me ‘insensitive’ and ‘a terrible person.’”

Schools should be ashamed with pressuring students to walk out, all to participate in a media stunt.

Teens can still grieve the loss of innocent life, and still believe in the right to keep and bear arms; the two are not mutually exclusive.

At the end of the day, the left’s plan backfired in a major way.

Nothing was accomplished. Lives weren’t saved.

And studies show gun groups continue to see increases in memberships, as Americans are tired of the left’s attempt to villainize those who choose to own a gun.

Bad guys will always break the law. No amount of “gun-free” zones or laws will stop them.

What are your thoughts on the left’s latest attempt to politicize the recent school shooting?

Do you think teens should have been forced to participate in the National Walkout Day?
