Top Ways To Get Your Child To Listen Without Yelling

  1. Tickle them

This technique is most effective with our extra ticklish ones. Nudging the bottom of the feet, or gently scratching the sensitive armpit area can get almost anyone to look at you.

Once you have their attention, give a positive response and then explain what it is you want to tell them.

You don’t want to tickle them and then tell them “You never listen!” This will confuse your child, and give them a conditioned responses to tickling that you don’t want.

After you have a sweet moment with your child, you can say “I love the way you laugh. Now that we have all our giggles out, I would like you to clean your room please.”

No mom is perfect, and there will be times when we raise our voice dealing with our children, but hopefully practicing some new approaches will make that a lot less frequent.

During a stressful time, such as trying to leave the house, remind yourself before you get the kids ready about how you want to handle the coming time.

This will hopefully put you in a better mindset to handle a difficult transitioning period, which in return will encourage your kids to better handle things.
