Little 5-Year-Old Boy Is Shot During Church Massacre And Has One Wish

It’s been more than a month since an unstable lunatic opened fire and killed more than 25 people at a small Christian church in Texas.

America watched the scene unfold with horror and grieved with the families who lost loved ones, and the world was reminded yet again pure evil does in fact exist.

Little Ryland was only 5 years old and was shot five times by the shooter, but thankfully he survived. And now, he has one Christmas wish, and he’s hoping you can meet it.

Ryland was worshiping with his family that Sunday, not knowing his life would never be the same.

Sadly, his stepmom and her two daughters didn’t make it out alive that Sunday and were gunned down by the deranged shooter.

But young Ryland is a fighter, and while he’s still in the hospital, he’s alive and fighting for his life.

It’s heartbreaking; a 5-year old child should have to endure the consequences of a crazed gunman.

He still doesn’t know he lost his loved ones in the massacre.

After all, how could one possibly explain such trauma to such a small child, while in the hospital?

But Ryland’s not giving up hope, and it’s up to fellow Americans to help meet his wish.

You see, as Ryland heals from his multiple gunshot wounds, he’s not expected to be released until February.

But not wanting to miss Christmas, he had one wish.

Fox News reported:

“The boy was shot five times in the elbow, stomach and leg, and is having issues with his kidney and a shattered femur.

Doctors are hopeful that he can head home in six to eight weeks, which means he’ll spend the holidays in the hospital.

To help lift his spirits, he’s requested holiday cards be sent to him with photos of pets or a $1 inside.

“You got so many nice people that are sending a card and a dollar to Ryland,” Sandy Ward, Ryland’s grandmother, told KSAT. “He does really enjoy that a lot.”

There are no words.

This sweet child is in the hospital this Christmas, and all he is requesting is a Christmas card with pictures of animals or $1 to lift his spirit.

Will you take a quick moment to send little Ryland a Christmas card?

What could cause a man to open fire on innocent churchgoers on a Sunday morning?

We’ll never know.

Ryland’s story reminds us all to hug our loved ones tighter tonight.

This child has been through more trauma in 5 short years than most people experience in a lifetime.

While there is evil in this world, we can overcome evil with good.

Ryland’s father had a few closing words to say, expressing his gratitude for complete strangers showing love to his 5-year old son.

KSAT reported:

“Merry Christmas from The Ward Family!

We wish to express our utmost and sincere appreciation to everyone for the generous outpouring of love, prayers and support we have received.

The cards, photos and gifts my children, Rihanna & Ryland have received from so many caring families has brought them so much joy and it has reminded me there are good people in this world.

For this I am truly grateful!

Wishing you and yours a very blessed Christmas!

Sincerely,

Chris Ward

Rihanna & Ryland”
