Oakland Mayor Tried To Protect Violent Offenders

Immigration is a hot topic in the White House. With major changes for undocumented people living in the United States underfoot, controversy was sure to arise.

This past year, the nation has put a travel ban up for individuals from several Middle Eastern countries, minimized the amount of refugees who are able to enter, and started efforts at improving legislation on undocumented immigrants brought here as children (DACA).

These necessary endeavors have positioned the United States back to a country that values its citizens and the respectable legal process by which it can be attained.

The left, however, feels that we should have an open door policy in this country for all to enter, at the time of their choosing, regardless of their background, or desire to inflict harm to your families.

In California, undocumented immigrants are reaching numbers that rise higher than anywhere else in the nation by the thousands.

Daily News reported:

About 6 in 10 undocumented immigrants in the United States live in one of 20 metro areas, with three regions in Southern California combining to make up the largest cluster of people living in the country illegally, according to a new study by the Pew Research Center.

Pew, which has tracked the undocumented population for several years, pegs the total number of undocumented immigrants at about 11.1 million nationwide.”

With this problem increasing at an uncontrollable rate, President Trump has taken initiative, unlike our past commander in chief, to regain control of our country by allowing Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) to do their jobs.

Unfortunately, liberals feel the law doesn’t apply to them if their feelings contradict standing legislation.

Mayor Libby Schaaf of Oakland, California decided she should warn illegal immigrants that ICE was about to do a raid.

Fox News reported on the unbelievable scenario:

A sweep of Northern California by federal immigration officials this week, which was partly thwarted when the Oakland mayor sounded the alarm, nabbed a number of illegal immigrants convicted of a variety of serious and violent crimes.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials announced this week that the four-day raid led to the arrest of 232 illegal immigrants in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Of those 232, 180 “were either convicted criminals, had been issued a final order of removal and failed to depart the United States, or had been previously removed” from the country and had come back illegally.

The arrests included 115 who “had prior felony convictions for serious or violent offenses, such as child sex crimes, weapons charges and assault, or had past convictions for significant or multiple misdemeanors.

The numbers might have been greater, but for the intervention of Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, who tweeted out a warning of the impending raid, tipping off others who might have been caught.”

The warning Mayor Schaaf issued led to about 800 additional illegal immigrants, possibly with similar charges to the other detainees, still at large, according to acting ICE director Thomas Homan reporting to Fox and Friends.

It would be presumed by any constituent their elected officials would be actively working to remove violent offenders from the community and have them seek justice.

What Schaaf did was not only a betrayal of the federal government but a betrayal of her law-abiding citizens that depend on her to stay within the same boundaries.

The crimes committed by those arrested in the raid were far from minor; most of them were offenses we would not tolerate by any other citizen.

So, why is their unreasonable leniency for these crooks?

Fox News requested an ICE spokesperson provide a list of the range of crimes committed by those arrested, and the results are shocking:

They cover a range of bad behavior: aggravated assault, murder, hit-run, lewd acts with a minor, burglary, cruelty toward a child, indecent exposure, domestic violence, drug trafficking, battery, sex offenses and false imprisonment.”

The Oakland mayor’s actions were unacceptable and irresponsible. The White House called what Schaaf had done “outrageous”, according to Fox News, and said a “review” will be conducted.

The worst part is that Mayor Schaaf was not sorry for what she did, and offered no apologies to the ICE agents she endangered as part of her stunt.

Oakland’s representative claims it was “to protect public safety” by allowing hundreds of criminals to get away with no legal ramifications, according to Fox News.

Those in opposition to immigration policies are not in favor of the safety of the United States, or its citizens.

There is a process for citizenship for a reason. It protects the integrity of this nation and creates a sense of pride for a status many of us hold dear.

More importantly, the laws in place protect citizens from dangerous criminals flooding the streets without warning which endangers all those who are here justly.

Please let us know what you think of the mayor’s actions, and of the new legislation protecting undocumented immigrants.
