1. Beetle eggs in your canned or frozen asparagus.
FDA reports on level of acceptable adulterated product:
“10% by count of spears or pieces are infested with 6 or more attached asparagus beetle eggs and/or sacs.”
This number seems high to me, but being one who eats a lot of asparagus I must have consumed my fair share of beetle eggs.
