Much of today’s progressive agenda focuses on women’s rights.
But, ironically, these “rights” mean rejecting the traditional roles of women – and that being a wife and mother is “not enough.”
And one of the most recognized international groups that claim to promote girls and women is really just another organizing arm of the left.
The Girl Scouts of America was founded over a century ago to strengthen the bonds between girls of all ages – to promote independence, self-esteem, life skills, and other worthy ideals.
But, sadly, the organization has become a mouthpiece – no matter how much they deny it – for anti-woman ideology.
In fact, although the Girl Scouts claims to create well-rounded girls by establishing the importance of values and tradition, these foundational tenets have become overwhelmed by liberal bias within the organization.
Almost every public statement and organizational event is created in support of progressive ideology and our national leaders and celebrities who perpetuate it.
Conservative values are looked upon with scorn as “holding girls back” from their true potential.
Much of the targeted demographic of the original organization – young girls who believed in faith and family and wanted to uphold those values – has fallen by the wayside.
In recent years, and especially since the presidential election of 2016, young girls have been brainwashed into admiring almost entirely progressive women like Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton.
They have organized field trips to anti-Trump rallies, the Women’s March on Washington, and the Teen Vogue Summit.
Members and troop leaders post and tweet of their excitement and support of these left-wing organizations, like opening for Michelle Obama’s book tour in Washington, D.C.
The Vogue Summit and the scouting organization’s partnership with Teen Vogue is especially concerning.
Thousands of girls attended the Teen Vogue Summit last year put on by a magazine that encourages sexual and gender experimentation and abortion.
“The Teen Vogue Summit focused on ‘reproductive justice,’ and featured speakers such as former Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards and manager of Youth Organizing for Planned Parenthood, Sharim Hossain,” according to Activist Mommy.
Earlier this year, Girl Scouts of Greater New York gave their full support to Governor Andrew Cuomo’s agenda, including a link to an address in which he declared his intent to pass the Reproductive Health Act – one that has since been signed into law – which places no restrictions on abortion and opens the door for infanticide.
According to Breitbart News, the organization posted on Facebook:
“Here is an agenda G.I.R.L.s can get behind! We look forward to finally enacting the #ERA in New York State, modernizing pay equity, and a brighter future for our girls and women! Thank you, Governor Andrew Cuomo!”
The “girl first” agenda of the Girl Scouts has become more of a “me first” message touted by progressives, and the Scouts are increasingly becoming social justice activists.
Down to their service projects, events, and leadership awards, nearly everything the Girl Scouts do is focused on liberal activism, as previously reported by Mommy Underground.
Family Watch International states that the Girl Scouts – in the name of “inclusivity” – are also heavily involved in promoting LGBT issues.
And even if you’re born a boy, you too can be a Girl Scout.
“Girl Scouts of the USA is increasingly promoting LGBT issues to girls by featuring prominent LGBT rights activists as role models at Girl Scout events, in Girl Scout materials, and by referring girls to websites that aggressively promote special LGBT rights.”
While leaders within the organization deny they have an “official” partnership with Planned Parenthood, girls all over the nation have attended affiliated events.
“We have relationships with our church communities, with YWCAs, and with Planned Parenthood organizations across the country, to bring information-based sex education programs to girls,” said former Girl Scouts of America CEO Kathy Cloninger in 2004, according to Activist Mommy.
And worse, because girls and their families must pay dues and other expenses for events, their money is going directly toward supporting organizations like Planned Parenthood.
It is tragic that an organization started more than a hundred years ago to reinforce the values of faith and family has so obviously rejected those same values.
Gone are the days of learning to cook and sew, for today’s Girl Scouts of America is more concerned with teaching girls they have the “right” to free contraception and abortion on demand or that they don’t have to be married or have children to be fulfilled.
The members of the Girl Scouts are now being groomed to carry on the progressive agenda and change what it means to be a woman.
Their founder, Juliette Gordon Low, wanted girls to be compassionate, caring, and have strong character. Only now, the only ideals that are focused on are those that ultimately destroy real women.
The truth behind the sash is clear, and for those of us who were Girl Scouts a generation or two ago, it is a sad truth indeed.
