When husbands are home during the day, it is typically a temporary event. Only fill them in on the activities with the kids that will directly affect him.
Go ahead and keep morning routine as usual, but then let hubby know that you want him to pick the kids up from school so you can get grocery shopping in before dinner.
If the kids are going to be home, try planning one organized activity a day during the hours they would be at school, along with one extra chore to help out around the house.
