The United States, and much of the world, seems to have lost all notions of common sense.
Morality is no longer the foundation for which much of society deems right from wrong.
With the liberal shove to inject LGBT ideals into every aspect of American life, including that of our children, it is not surprising that kids programming is being judged if it is politically correct enough- and it must stop!
Disney Plus has been on the conservative radar recently for their unjust treatment of actors who show right leaning political views.
Gina Carano from the hit Disney series The Mandalorian was fired for making references on social media about being a member of the Republican party is like being a Jew during the Holocaust.
While the reference is inaccurate, it is not worse than The Washington Post inappropriately claiming, “It is not wrong to compare Trump’s America to the Holocaust.”
It is commonplace to have countless celebrities publicly spout uneducated, left-leaning opinions as if they are fact, but a conservative makes a comment that is not inclusive of every liberal viewpoint and they are shamed in the media for weeks.
To many family’s enjoyment, Disney Plus released the original five seasons of The Muppet Show.
However, during certain episodes Disney felt it necessary to add a disclaimer about the show not being politically correct enough; just as they have done with the classic movies Dumbo and The Aristocrats.
A whopping eighteen episodes were given this scarlet letter, with Scary Mommy writing about how “apologists” like to say it was a “product of their time.”
The truth of the matter is that it is the product of the time- a time when everyone was not so scared to say what things meant, a time when you weren’t assumed to be racist if you described how a person looks, and a time when it was perfectly acceptable to write content relatable to children for a children’s show.
Among the episodes that were deemed unworthy of us making our own mind up on were one in which Johnny Cash performs in front of a Confederate Flag and one in which there is “harmful” depictions of a Middle Eastern person.
The universal disclaimer on Disney that is used whenever they think a scene is going to offend someone reads:
“This program includes negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures. These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now. Rather than remove this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it and spark conversation to create a more inclusive future together. Disney is committed to creating stories with inspirational and aspirational themes that reflect the rich diversity of the human experience around the globe.”
The positive side of Disney’s censorship is they did decide to leave out an episode written by Chris Langham who went to prison for Child Pornography charges- now that is a good place to draw the line!
Multiple popular leftist media groups covered the “hot story” of The Muppet Show allowing Johnny Cash to sing in front of a historical flag, but they completely ignore- or worse yet praise- stories that actively harm our children.
As Mommy Underground has previously reported, liberals are staying away from the conversation about how inappropriate the hit Netflix show Cuties is and how it features little girls dancing in a highly sexualized way in front of adults for entertainment.
Or how about kids cartoons like Sesame Street introducing a transgender puppet (as if the concept is not confusing enough without having to comprehend a puppets identity), or Arthur featuring a homosexual wedding and no one thinking twice about the ill effect it will have on young developing minds.
Being politically correct is not what children’s shows need to worry about!
They need to be concerned with providing age-appropriate material in a way that is morally just.
But it seems that is too much to ask from the mainstream media…
