Using the age-old technique of time-outs is sometimes necessary for you and your child. You get to calm down, and your child has time to adjust their emotions and reflect on the scenario that brought them there.

You can try restricting something they enjoy or redirecting their behavior, but if that doesn’t work a time-out can add a much-needed enforcement to your directive.

Just make sure you are consistent with the length of the time-out and the place they are to serve their time. Afterward, assure your love for them, and have them correct their mistake.
