Study Reports Some Surprising Findings About Our Nation’s Mothers

Home by choice or necessity?

The vast majority of stay-at-home moms are married with husbands who work full-time — not necessarily a surprise.

But what may be surprising is that a growing number of stay-at-home moms are home because they are unable to find employment – and some of this has to do with not being able to afford childcare or find reliable transportation between their responsibilities.

The percentage of moms who are home due to inability to work has risen from only one percent a decade ago to over six percent in recent years.
