Dealing With Your Adolescent’s ‘Bad Friends’

  1. Be Consistent

If your child is hanging out with friends from school that are engaging in risky behavior, make a hard and fast rule that there is no going out on school nights.

Making this rule will likely upset your teenager, but it will restrict access to undesirables. Just don’t alter the rule for kids that you like, or your teenager will see the inconsistency.

Rules need to have consequences when they are broken. If your adolescent doesn’t come home on a school night they need to have some accountability for their actions.
