Komo News reported on a young girl who died last year while trying to take a selfie while standing on a log:
“The Eugene Register-Guard reports that 14-year-old Aurora Sheffel was standing on top of the log with friends at the South Jetty Park Beach on Saturday. Sheffel was the last one standing on the log when it shifted in the surf and rolled.
KATU-TV News reports that beachgoers managed to get her out from under the log before emergency crews arrived at the scene. She sustained life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the South Coos Hospital.”
With water related selfies being the second greatest environment of selfie deaths, having someone else capture an unforgettable moment in the water would be wise.
There is a near uncontrollable urge in society today to capture every moment that may have any significance.
