In the United States alone, it’s estimated over 117,000 children are waiting to be adopted.

Many people are surprised to hear this number, especially with all the families who struggle with infertility who want to adopt.

But the good news is – you can celebrate National Adoption Month and bring awareness to the need to place these precious children into loving homes – and here are just a few ways to get you started.

Support Those Wishing To Adopt

Adopting a child isn’t cheap – with the average cost ranging between $20,000-$45,000!

Many families long to adopt a child – but simply can’t afford it.

If you know a family who is seeking to adopt – consider supporting them financially with a donation – and spreading the word to get others to donate too.

Every baby who is up for adoption is here because their mother chose life – so let’s all work together to make sure all of these children get adopted into a loving home.

Start An Adoption/Foster Care Ministry At Your Church

There are many families who have the means to take in children – who don’t understand just how many children need homes.

The church should be a major player in the adoption world and help raise awareness about children in foster care who are looking for their forever home.

If there are members of your church who have gone through the training to accept foster kids – or even adopt – help them!

Whether it’s assisting them with the items they need, bringing over meals, or offering to help spend time with their family – many families who are adopting or are foster parents feel utterly alone – which should never be the case.

If a child has been in the foster system, there is likely abandonment trauma that will need healing, and they’ll need all the love and support they can get.

Empower Pregnant Women To Choose Life

There are many pregnant women who are scared and overwhelmed – and due to their financial situation or life circumstances feel they are unable to keep their babies.

While there are many resources out there for pregnant women – adoption is a life-saving option to those considering abortion.

Sadly, many pregnant women are set to abort their babies never think about adoption – or think it could be a possibility.

Consider volunteering for pro-life organizations such as a crisis pregnancy center or other agencies promoting life.

Each time a woman chooses adoption – a baby gets the chance at life.

Adoption is a beautiful and selfless act of love.

Every birthmother who has her baby and places them up for adoption is wanting their baby to have a better life than they could afford to give them.

Let’s make sure to encourage those in our path who are either considering adopting – or thinking about placing their baby up for adoption.

Happy National Adoption month!
